Frames and Moments

About

A quiet place for photographs

Frames and Moments began as a printed zine passed between six photographers. It is now a curated community of several thousand — and the editing standard has not moved.

Our story

Why this exists

Photography has never had more distribution and never had less attention. A frame that took three winters to make gets the same second and a half as everything else.

We wanted the opposite: a platform where the work is sequenced rather than streamed, where an editor stands behind what appears on the homepage, and where the photographer's name sits next to the picture instead of underneath a metric.

There are no follower counts on profiles. There is no algorithm deciding whose work deserves a second look. There is a small editorial team, a monthly brief, and a community that turns up for both.

“Show fewer pictures. Show them larger. Say who made them.”

The founding note, 2021

The picture first

Interface should disappear. Every design decision here is measured against whether it helps you look at a photograph for longer.

Curation over volume

Editors read every submission. We would rather publish forty frames a week that deserve attention than four thousand that do not.

Credit, always

Photographers are named beside their work everywhere it appears — in collections, in challenges, in the magazine.

International by default

Members photograph in eighty-one countries. The homepage should not look like it was made in one of them.
